Ten focused minutes a day is easier to keep up than a long weekend session. Here is a routine you can repeat all term.

Part of our complete guide.

The three parts

  • Warm up, 2 minutes: one 60-second round of Quick Sum Sprint on an easy level.
  • Focus, 5 minutes: one skill only, such as the 7× table or missing numbers in Math Duck.
  • Review, 3 minutes: five questions from something learned last week.

Keep it short and the same time each day

A fixed time, such as before dinner, matters more than the exact activity. Stop on time even if your child wants more; it keeps the habit positive.

Make progress visible

Write the best Quick Sum Sprint score on the fridge each Friday. Small visible gains are motivating.

Questions

How long should a daily math routine be?

Ten minutes is enough for most primary-age children. Stop on time so the routine stays positive.

What if my child refuses to practise?

Offer a choice between two games and let them pick. A little control makes a big difference to motivation.

Should weekends be included?

Many families keep a lighter weekend, for example one game, to protect the habit without adding pressure.
