How to Teach Multiplication with Games
By the Duck Math team ·

Games work for multiplication because they turn the same facts into many short, low-pressure attempts. That repetition is exactly what memory needs.
Part of our complete guide.
What a good multiplication game does
- Asks quick questions, not long ones.
- Shows the right answer after a mistake.
- Lets the child pick one table, then mix them.
- Does not rely on luck or random bonuses.
A five-day plan
- Monday: look at the multiplication chart and pick one table.
- Tuesday: Times Tables Duck Race on that table for 5 minutes.
- Wednesday: Number Pond to link equations with answers.
- Thursday: Race again, this time on Mixed.
- Friday: print a worksheet and do 20 questions with no game.
How to talk about mistakes
When your child misses a fact, say it together, cover it, and ask again a minute later. A single correct recall right after a gap is worth more than reading the fact five times.
