How to Choose Safe, Useful Free Math Games

Plenty of free math games are fun but teach little, or surround the game with confusing ads. This checklist helps you choose.

- Does the child do the arithmetic, or is it a side feature of a general arcade game?
- Does it show the right answer after a mistake?
- Can you choose the skill level or the table?
Check privacy and ads
- No sign-up or personal details needed.
- Ads should be labelled and never look like game buttons.
- A clear privacy policy that mentions children.
Warning signs
- Pop-ups, forced downloads or "install this to continue".
- Pages that copy popular game names but run something else.
- No contact details or information about who runs the site.
